I AM MY BEST FRIEND-Padma Aunty's group

Yesterday we made friendship bands by stringing straw beads in wool. It took us a long time for us to string a bead and then it kept slipping out from the other end. It was a bit tough to begin with but very soon we all got involved in doing it. When we finished making the band, Aunty told us that we can tie it on our  best friend's hands. We thought really hard for some time and then we wanted to tie it to our own hands. Afterall, "i am my own best friend"!!!!!!!!!!
It was really a nice feeling when we all could successfully string the beads in.

Shivani Aunty- 3-4yrs- 20-8-07- Thank you Mammas..

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the Mothers who made it for the parent- child day on 20-8-07. We feel very special and cared for when our Mothers are with us in our class, our room was filled with beaming smiles, joyful admiration and great spirits. Mothers and children sang as they worked together. We even celebrated Nethra's birthday and got yummy chocolates to eat. It was a very good and comfortable feeling for all of us to be together as one lovely family of Petals!
Thank you all,

Shivani Aunty- 2-4yrs - 13-8-07 - to the sweet shop

Last friday we all took a trip to the Mithai shop. We were all prepared to go there, we made a chhuk chhuk gadi and got into the car one by one. As the car started we were very excited and screamed out in joy, we were so happy!!! When we reached there we went into the shop and saw so many lovely mithais of different colors and shapes, some of us even started singning 'I'am Mama circle..." Each of us chose our favourite sweets and enjoyed eating them. The shop Uncle was all smiles to see us and served all of us. However one of us said 'I don't want to eat anything here, I will only eat the Gulab Jamoons that my mother makes or I will go to Adayar Anand Bhavan and eat sweets there'

It was a special day for us today, our Grandparents had come for the Independence Day program that we were celebrating. We wore colorful bands around our wrists, sang rhymes and danced to the song 'Nanna Munna Rahi Hoon' our favourite line being 'Aage He Aage Badaounga Kadam' when we all marched forward togwther ! One of our Grandparents hoisted the flag and after that we all stood silently listening to the National Anthem. Granparents were very spirited and loudly said JAI HIND after the National Anthem, we all joined them. Then we spent time together doing our activities for the day. Thank you all the lovely Grand Parents for making it a Grand Day for us !!!

Sieving sand- Padma Aunty's group

Today we began our session with the practice of the Independence day song. After all our friends had gone to their respective classes, we sat in a cozy circle and observed a sieve. When asked what we can do with it, one of the children, who does not talk much otherwise, immediately said, " chapati maavu". They all then explored what all we can pass through the sieve through a small discussion. There were all sorts of suggestions like pencils, erasers, raagi, rice, etc as possible candidates for passing through the sieve. On being told that I have none of that, or that some of the items cannot pass through it, i asked what else can we use the sieve for. One of the children ,then, with a twinkle in his eyes said, "SAND"!!.And so off we went to the sand area to sieve the sand. We planned it well and carried newspapers along to collect the sieved sand to observe it. In the sand pit, we formed a train and took turns with the sieve. We observed and touched the sand which fell down from the sieve and which remained in it. It was rough or big in the sieve and soft and small when it fell below. We then went ahead and even wrote SAND in the sand with our fingers. We really enjoyed the experience today and came up to plunge into the next activity of the day.
Mammas can now look forward to some help the next time they want to sieve something in the kitchen for some tasty recipe.

Eating up our art work---Padma Aunty's group

Today we had a fun filled day. We began with our assembly and the practice for independence day. Then we straightaway plunged into our activity of the day-----making and eating up our artwork. We first planned on paper what we would be making with circle and square biscuits, carrot sticks and cheese strips. Then we practiced it using paper shapes and finally we actually created it with the biscuits, etc. We had things like the signal, lolipop, sprinkler, balzing yoyo, sun, flower, etc made with the food stuff. I was truely surprised to see all of the children actually making their artwork and not directly eating up the whole thing. Hats off to Padma Aunty for having prepared them so well in planning and executing a job, for all these days. Then after showing our friends our artwork, we ate it up with satisfaction. We also got extra helpings if we wanted. The best part was that we did not waste much food and actually ate up to our hearts fill, even the not so favourite carrots!

Girija Aunty - 2-3years- 6th Aug- puppets.

Hi,

Today some of the children made puupets and got it from home. The puppets
were connected to the library book which they had taken home. They were very
happy to talk about the puppet and more than that I observed that the though
they made it with their mama and papa was more important to them. More than
the character they wee happy to talk about that feeling og theirs.

Thank you mama and papa!!!!

Girija Aunty- 2-3 years 1/08/07- money Money !!

Today in myclass there was a bout of contagious crying for pick up card.
Tissues as usual was kept in a basket so as to make it easy for them to
take and clean themselves. children usually take it and after us throw it in
the dustbin when one little was wasting tissue paper so another child who
was observing all this askeds him "Are we not paying money and buying this"
- I was surprised at how she was associating wasteage with money.
