Shivani Aunty - Skills - 28-1-08

Today was a day when we met different people from different professions  through the pictures in our room. We met Doctor Uncle, Mechanic Uncle, Policeman and a farmer too. Out of the above, we decided to be Doctors and Mechanics. Wrist bands were given to each, we tried reading the different letters on the band then enjoyed being doctors - checking and treating patients. As Mechanics we were keen on wheels and cars, some of us explored the spanner and tried fixing nuts and bolts. Wheels also rolled to see how far they could reach. Before we realised, our pickup cards arrived and we sang our way home - Bye Bye Doctor......

Shivani Aunty -Movie time - 24-1-08

We took a journey into an imaginary world today as we watched a Movie made with hands(our theme for the month).Children were seated in their respective seats and eagerly watching, some were so involved that we could see them trying out different hand movements as they watching the movie. Fingers were moving in attempt to make a character, some hands were flapping like a bird, some were swimming like a fish. While one little Khoji settled happily in his seat and joined his hands together and sang the song- Raghupathi Raghava.......

Girija Aunty-2-3 years Measuremnets

Hi
on friday we were doing an activity on measurement using only our hands. Most of the genies wanted a big hand print as aunties. So with paint they kept two hands together and said it is same hand as aunties. It was nice to see how they were involved in spreading red colour on their palms and they kept doing it till they were satisfied about the hand print. The best part of all this is when they   try and put up their work on the walls and looks at it with admiration!!!  Way to go genies.

Shivani Aunty - 11-1 08 - Measuring measuring !

Our session began with song and dance to Gumbare Aagumbare, each of us added our own movements to it, each and everyone of us participated. As our activity began all the khojis sat in a circle, waiting patiently for their turn and also following painting codes. We measured how tall we are with a strip of cloth and marked it with our hand prints, counting how many hands we had on our cloth strip. Then we compared it with the black board, cupboards, notice board, friends, fingers, ponytails etc, observing which was longer or shorter.

Shivani Aunty - 2-3yrs - Little hands - 10-1-08

We were observing our hands, colored htem with red paint and took hadn prints on paper.looked for all the things that we have on our hands- found stright lines and curves, also a road ! One child was very happy because a baby sister was born for her yesterday, she said that the baby had small hands and even her fingers were very small, the expression on her face was very cute and with her hands she was trying to indicate how small the baby was !! We are thinking HANDS- the theme for this months activity.

Hair dryer-Trupti Aunty's group

Today was the day of Machine fun as the genies in my session called it. We explored the hair dryer today. To dry hair, we need to wet the hair first was the reaction of many genies. But some were worried about being scolded by mother for getting the hair wet. So we decided to use a capfull of water to wet our hair and then dry it off. It was fun to see them splashing the water on their hair, and then using the dryer to dry it off. It was even more interesting to see their reactions to the blowing hot air. Some said it felt nice since it was very cold in the morning. We had a good time with our machine of the day as we all called it-the hair dryer.
